Only 33 people tested positive to typhoid - Health ministry

Dr Stephen Kabwama, an epidemiologist with the Health ministry, said there were 5,768 suspected cases of typhoid as of April 7 after carrying out the first test known as widal test.

He made the comments on Thursday during the launch of the Uganda Public Health Fellowship Programme (UPHFP). The programme will see holders of public health masters' degrees get a two-year fellowship working with the Ministry of Health and district local governments on healthcare issues. Dr Kabwama is among the first 10 scientists who won the fellowship.
